SinchCast Will Return After These Messages

As you may have noticed, there hasn’t been a new SinchCast in almost a month. I knew at some point we were gonna need a break. I hadn’t planned to take a break now but it just sort of happened on its own. Sorry we didn’t tell anyone what’s going on.

We actually have one more podcast already recorded that I’ll try to post this week. It strays a bit from the usual formula when Jamie’s dad walks in and sort of takes over the show for a while. I wasn’t sure if it would be interesting or funny to people who don’t know Jamie’s dad, but I guess at this point, its better than nothing. I’m sure at least some of you will enjoy it. Plus, you still get a new unreleased track, so there’s always that.

Beyond that, I’m not exactly sure what we’re doing. Think of everything up until now as “Season 1″ of the podcast (Special Edition Criterion DVD coming soon!). I’d like to try some new things and change the format up a bit, but I haven’t really figured it all out yet. Basically, I think we can do something that will appeal to more than just our hardcore fanbase. We appreciate all the support we get from you guys, but at the same time we need to try to expand the whole thing a bit.

So, “SinchCast 2: Electric Boogaloo” is coming soon. And so is SINCH.TV. I swear! When we originally said “coming soon”, we meant “in about a year or some shit,” which is actually pretty soon now.

SinchCast: MP3 of the Week #18 - Untitled 12

This week we talk about a track that we recorded sometime in between the releases of Diatribe and Project: Bluebird. Also, you get to listen to me chew gum for the whole podcast while we talk about the sunday comics, the reasoning behind a new Garfield movie and Malcolm Springer’s famous puppy-dog story.

SinchCast: MP3 of the Week #17 - All That’s Left Behind (Early demo)

This week we eventually get around to talking about an early version of All That’s Left Behind, recorded while we were writing Clearing the Channel. We also ramble on about all the different ways people have misspelled Sinch over the years, the need for tour managers and other unnecessary randomness.

SinchCast: MP3 of the Week #16 - Sails (Live)

This version of Sails originally appeared on 94.1 WYSP in Philadelphia on the Sunday night new music show “Exposed.” It was a show hosted by Spike, a guy who’s really helped us out over the years. In this case, he let us come on and pretty much take over the whole show - doing an interview, playing tracks from Clearing the Channel, and doing some acoustric tracks - to help promote the release of the album back in March 2005.

SinchCast: MP3 of the Week #15 - Stained

Technically this track isn’t unreleased. It originally appeared on the album Diatribe that we released in 1998 with an extremely limited run of 500 copies. We recently found some copies that we didn’t realize we had, so we put them up for sale here:

There aren’t that many left so get it while you still can. We know a lot of people managed to find this album online, thanks to the magic of file sharing, and we have no problem with that. We’re trying to make a career out of this though, so if you’d like to help us out, buying one of these discs is a great way to do it. Also, we’ll be making the tracks available through our new DRM-free, high-quality music store which we plan on launching this month. Again, we know you can easily find this stuff elsewhere, but buying it from us really helps us out.

Anyway, enough with the schtick… Here’s the new podcast.

SinchCast: MP3 of the Week #14 - The Arctic Ocean (Demo)

Another Monday, another late podcast. It’s Tuesday here now, but it’s still Monday *somewhere* so we still made it on time! This week’s track is an acoustic demo version of The Arctic Ocean that we recorded during pre-production for the self-titled record. We also feature some of your phone calls and the winners of the “contest” from last week.

Phone Calls

To the people who have called in response to the question on the latest podcast, please email us so we know who you are. I guess we should have said to also leave an email address or something so we can contact you. Otherwise it’s gonna be a pretty lame contest.

So far everyone has been correct… it’s just a matter of who called first I guess. But depending on how many people call in we may decide to choose more than one winner, possibly based on which phone call we like more, so it’s not over yet…

SinchCast #13 - An Author for an Authority

This is a track that was originally supposed to be on the Project:Bluebird EP, but was never finished, for various reasons. One of the reasons is that we lost some of the vocal tracks before we did a final mix and never had time to redo them. So, unfortunely all we have now is an instrumental mix. At the time we were all really excited about this song, but somehow it just slipped through the cracks. Hopefully we’ll revist it someday…

SinchCast: MP3 of the Week #12 - To Die in Fall (Demo)

Right around the time we signed with Roadrunner Records (2000-2001) we recorded a 3 song demo for the label using much of the same techniques and equipment we used on the Project:Bluebird EP. A previous podcast featured a song called “Ham Bread” from this same demo. This week’s track is an early version of “To Die in Fall”, a song that later ended up on our self-titled album.

SinchCast: Mp3 of the Week #11 - Social Anxiety Disorder

This week’s SinchCast is a demo of a song that was in the running for both Clearing the Channel and the self-titled album, but didn’t end up on either one. It may end up being in the running for our next album… so let us know what you think.
