If you are seeing this message, the site probably looks bad. That's because you are using IE 5.5 (or below). The site should still work, but some things will not work as expected. You can upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 for free at the Microsoft website, or better yet, download a standards compliant browser like Firefox or Opera. They're both free to download.

Black Blog is the new White Forums

I don’t want to insult your intelligence so I’ll just assume that you noticed the blog colors have changed to more closely resemble the rest of the site.

When we opened the new forums there were a few people who seemed upset at how “white” the whole thing was. The site has been all dark colors for so long I guess it was kind of a shock. So now the blog is less white. Should we do the same with the forums? Or has everyone gotten used to how they look by now?

Either way we’re gonna be redesigning the whole site sometime in the next 8 years (give or take infinity) so maybe it doesn’t matter.

SXSW 2006 Podcasts

SXSW 2006 is under way down in Austin, TX. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, SXSW is a music, film and interactive fesitval held every year where thousands of bands play showcases for music industry people from all over the world who converge on Austin, TX to party on their major label expense accounts, hang out at strip clubs with their wives safely back at home, and ultimately not sign any bands.

The Interactive festival, though, is pretty interesting. According to the website, they describe it as “ground zero for the world’s most creative web developers, designers, bloggers, wireless innovators and new media entrepreneurs.”

If you’re at all involved in the world of web design you’re bound to find something interesting. Luckily, for those of us who can’t afford the trip, they are posting podcasts of some of the interactive panels and keynote speeches. There’s some pretty good stuff here so far:

Also, for anyone who is attending SXSW, be sure to stop by and say hi to Jay. He’ll be at the Livid Instruments booth (#M15) at the SXSW Trade Show doing some real-time video editing demonostrations.

New Site Design

Once again the site has been redesigned. Let us know what you think. There are some new sections to the site and some new features that we didn’t have before so take a look around. There is a message board in the “fans” section. I’m not expecting it to get too much use right away, but it is there. You’ll have to register to post something, but it doesn’t cost anything and only takes a few seconds. The board is hosted here on our site, so your information won’t be seen by anyone else.

As I’ve said probably a thousand times, we’ve been very busy recording, mixing, writing, practicing, etc etc etc, trying to get the new CD completed. As far as that goes, all of the actual recording is DONE and 3 of the 6 songs are 99% mixed and mastered. And because of some other things that came up over the last few weeks we recorded 2 MORE songs that we weren’t planning on doing. One of them is the first track on Diatribe, “Pain,” and the other one is a new song. We recorded them for sort of a different reason, but most likely we will include them on the CD as well. So, I guess it’s officially not an ep now.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have a definite date on when the CD will be completed. So, instead of keeping everyone waiting, we will be releasing some of the songs in mp3 format over the next few weeks. I’ll also be putting up a more current version of the “Plasma” mp3, so if you want to hear what will be on the actual cd, you’ll want to download it again. More details on all that very soon…

The good news is, we are finally going to be playing some shows again. We just booked 5 shows over the next month or so, and plan to have some more booked in a week or two. Right now, all we have is the dates, but more information will be posted as soon as we can.

New Site Design

As you may notice, our site has been totally redesigned (again). We will soon be changing servers and our URL will be “http://www.sinch.net”. This will hopefully solve the many different problems that have been reported about the site (i.e.- loading very slow, not loading at all, broken images, missing pages)

In other, more band related, news:
After our upcoming shows at The Balcony and The Pontiac Grille, we will not be playing any shows for a while. We will be concentrating on new material and possibly some changes on some of the old material.

Sept 4 @ The Pontiac Grille
We will be playing a show at the Pontiac on Sat. Sept. 4 with
Tapping The Vein, Carfax Abbey, and Surrean. We think this will turn out to be a very good show. Unfortunately, for all the underage kids, this *is* a 21+ show. But, if you are of age, definitely try to come out to the show. Tapping The Vein is one of our favorite bands to play with. You will not be disappointed.
