Bodog Battle of the Bands

Round TWO is tonight! We are playing at 10:00pm, so make sure to get there before that. Thanks to everyone who bought advance tickets. We sold the most out of all the bands and were able to get the time slot we wanted.

And to anyone who didn’t buy tickets already: They will have more tickets available at the door, so it’s not too late to come to this show!

Bodog Show Announced

Bodog Battle of the Bands

The next round in the Bodog Battle of the Bands will be taking place Wednesday, August 16th at the North Star Bar in Philly. We will be competing against 10 other local Philly bands to move on to the next round so we really need your help.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16
North Star Bar
27th & Poplar St
Philadelphia, PA

Show starts at 7:30pm. We won’t know our time slot until the night before so try to get there on time!

We need as many people as possible to come to this show. If you’re anywhere near the Philly area and will be free that night PLEASE COME! We need you guys! Voting will take place at the venue on the night of the show, so if you don’t show up, you can’t vote.

We have advance tickets that we’re selling for $10. If we sell the most tickets we have first choice of what time slot we want to play, which really makes a difference. So if you’re planning on coming please try to get your tickets from us.

Buy Tickets

Buying the tickets online requires sending us the money through PayPal. If you can’t do that for some reason, or you know us personally and would just rather buy them directly from us, contact us through the site or find me on AIM (dansinch) and we’ll work something out.

The way this show works is that 10 bands will each be playing a 30 minute set. On the back of everyone’s ticket stub is a place to write your favorite 3 bands of the night (in order). There will also be judges who will be scoring each band on performance, orginality, style, etc. And the winners will be chosing by a combination of those two factors. 2 bands will be chosen with this method and then a 3rd “wildcard” band will be chosen by online voting for 7 days after the show. So if for some reason we’re not one of the top 2 bands, be ready to do some serious online voting to keep us in the race!

If we make it past this show, there are two more rounds to narrow the Philly bands down to one and then in the final round the top band from each city will play a nationally televised show! We’ll have more info as we go along, but for now we need everyone at this show! Seriously! We’re not fucking around this time!

With your guys help I think we have a chance to go all the way!

Bodog Round Two

Bodog Battle of the Bands

Online voting for the Bodog Battle of the Bands ended recently and thanks to all your votes, we officially made it to the 2nd round! We finished in the #2 spot for Philly, out of a shitload of bands (I don’t know the exact number, but it was a lot).

We’re still waiting for details but apparently Round Two involves promoting a show and getting as many people as we can to come out to the show and vote… again. But this time you vote in person at the end of the show. This will most likely be an all ages show, so we’re gonna need all of you (in the surrounding area of course), to help us out again when the time comes. We should have some more details very soon. Stay tuned…

Zippo Hot Tour Reminder

We need everyone voting for us everyday (or at least as often as you can remember). To help you remember we’ve set up a “daily reminder” email list. Sign up and get a Sinch Random Fact of the Day(TM) emailed to you every day between now and June 30!

Thats almost 40 days of awesomely random facts that most people don’t know about Sinch! Collect ‘em all!

And you better be paying attention because there WILL be a quiz later! Everyone who aces the quiz will be eligible to get a hold of some cool Sinch stuff you can’t get anywhere else! So sign yourself up, and make sure you read (and vote!) every day!

If you’re worried about spam, don’t be… Once the voting is closed, we’ll be deleting the mailing list and we’ll never email you again. We just figured this would be a fun way to remind everyone to vote everyday.

Zippo Hot Tour

We’re in another contest! Sinch is now entered into the Zippo Hot Tour 2006. There is a $100,000 prize package at stake as well as a slot on the 2006 Zippo Hot Tour with a yet-to-be-named national touring band.

Once again the first round is online voting. The difference with this contest is that you can vote ONCE A DAY! So we need everyone who’s willing to spare some time to try to remember to come back every day and vote for us!

We should mention that the website is a little confusing. You’ll have to enter your birthdate and email address and some other stuff so that they can keep track of how many votes you have. Feel free to give fake info, but make sure you use a working email address.

Once you do that, you’ll have to click on Philadelphia on the map and then scroll down to find SINCH. Next to our name there is an empty checkbox that says “NOT.” Click on that and it changes to “HOT” and then scroll down and click the “These Bands are HOT” button. It’s kind of a pain in the ass, but there’s not much we can do about it. It’s a little bit easier after the first vote, since all you need to do is put in the DOB and email you used and it will remember you.

Again, you can vote once a day in each city. Voting is open until June 30th, so remember to come back and vote as much as you can.

And if you want to help spread the word, you can copy and paste this html to post the banner on your myspace page or other website.

You can find more banners and downloadable flyers here:

Help us win a $1,000,000 contract! We need votes!

Vote for Sinch in the Bodog Battle of the Bands!

Sinch is now entered into the $1,000,000 Bodog Battle of the Bands!

We need votes!!

There are a bunch of different rounds to this thing but it looks like the first stage is online voting. So we need everyone to get the word out on this and get people voting.

You can vote for us here! http://www.bodogbattleofthebands.com/bandsandmusic/profile.php?band_id=39

We’re currently #3 in the Philadelphia area, but we need to be #1!! We can do this!! Yesterday we were at #30 in Philadelphia and in the #200s overall, so I know a lot of you are voting already. Great work on this!!

(This is one of the first missions we are doing in the SinchArmy. But we figured we need all the help we can get so we’re sending it to everyone. If this is the kind of thing you think you’d like to help us with, sign up for the SinchArmy now! http://www.sinch.net/sincharmy)

Anyway, to help promote this there are several things you can do:

  1. Go there and vote yourself!
  2. Send a bulletin to all your myspace friends asking them to vote for us. If you are more active on other sites (Live Journal, Friendster, etc) that works too!
  3. Post a link to vote for us on your profile.
  4. Send messages directly to people who you know are Sinch fans. Our Friend’s list is a good place to start, but if you Search Myspace and under “Search MySpace Profiles by”, select “Music” and search for “Sinch”, you can find even more people. This will give you anyone who has us listed in their Music section…
  5. Post about this on other music related message boards and sites that you normally post on. You don’t want to randomly start spamming message boards… that usually doesn’t work too well. But if you are already an active member somewhere, you can probably get a bunch of people there to help out. Pretty much any online community that you are active in, whether its music related or not, is a good place to promote.
  6. Post links in your friend’s comments (especially ones who have a lot of their own friends) so people who visit their profile will see it too.
  7. Email anyone you know who might be willing to take a minute and vote… even if they’re not Sinch fans (but they should be!)
  8. You tell us!! We know there are probably some other good ways to promote this so let us know anything we left out!

Use this banner!
Vote for Sinch in the Bodog Battle of the Bands!

To use the banner either copy and paste the html below…

…or you can use this direct link however you choose: http://www.sinch.net/images/BodogBanner.gif

With a lot of the Myspace stuff… don’t be afraid to repost this several times. When people get a lot of bulletins and comments on their profile, they get pushed down pretty fast, so it’s good to repost every so often to make sure they get seen!

SXSW 2006 Podcasts

SXSW 2006 is under way down in Austin, TX. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, SXSW is a music, film and interactive fesitval held every year where thousands of bands play showcases for music industry people from all over the world who converge on Austin, TX to party on their major label expense accounts, hang out at strip clubs with their wives safely back at home, and ultimately not sign any bands.

The Interactive festival, though, is pretty interesting. According to the website, they describe it as “ground zero for the world’s most creative web developers, designers, bloggers, wireless innovators and new media entrepreneurs.”

If you’re at all involved in the world of web design you’re bound to find something interesting. Luckily, for those of us who can’t afford the trip, they are posting podcasts of some of the interactive panels and keynote speeches. There’s some pretty good stuff here so far:

Also, for anyone who is attending SXSW, be sure to stop by and say hi to Jay. He’ll be at the Livid Instruments booth (#M15) at the SXSW Trade Show doing some real-time video editing demonostrations.

SinchCast: Mp3 of the Week #5 / New Philly show

SinchCast #5 is now available! Regardless of what you might have heard on the new page here (probably nothing), SinchCast #4 was released on time (as usual) and was a smashing success. It was the #1 most downloaded music podcast in the world (and probably the universe) that was hosted on our web server.

Also!

We will be playing at the North Star in Philadelphia, PA on April 7 with the best band we’ve ever played with in Detroit, Auto Pilot, on their way through the Northeast. They’d probably be the best band we’ve ever played with in a lot of places, but that’s the only place we’ve ever played with them. Anyway, you can find more about them on their website and MySpace page. We highly recommend that you do not miss this show.

Here are the details:
