Cloverfield
Apparently this trailer is playing before the new Transformers movie. The whole thing is filmed with home movie cameras from the perspective of the people in the city during some kind of “monster” attack on NYC. Blair Witch Project meets Godzilla or something. Looks pretty awesome.
Update: OK, the original video I posted got taken down for some reason. I’m guessing because it was filmed on a cell phone in the theater. Here’s another one that’s even worse quality, but you can still get an idea of what’s going on:
Also, here are some sites that apparently have something to do with the movie:

That does look awesome.
I’m pretty sure that they’re using an Alternate Reality Game to market the movie, not unlike what NIN did for their last album.
From what I’ve read, a lot of people seem to think that this movie is related to the show Lost, since it’s from the show’s creator and all. I don’t watch it so I can’t put forth an opinion, but apparently one of the noises heard in the trailer sounds exactly like Smoky, who is some creature from the show.
Another popular theory is that its related to Cthulhu and H.P. Lovecraft’s literature. This one seems more likely because on Ethanhaaswasright.com, a website linked to the film, there is a quote in the HTML code referencing the Lovecraft saying, “Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn,” which means “In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming”
I have too much time on my hands . . .
I’d have to see it in the theater to be able to compare the sound to the creature from LOST. That’s one of the longest running mysteries of the show, but I’m not really sure how it would tie in with this.
Either way, I want to see more.
