Immeasurable Blast

I have a pretty unhealthy fear of lightning. I’m not sure why. I’ve never been struck by it and I’ve never seen anyone else get hit or anything. And I know the odds are like a billion to one or whatever, but every time there’s a lightning storm I think I’m going to get killed.

It’s sort of like that feeling when you know a balloon is going to pop, but you don’t know when. At any second hell could be unleashed. Well, in the case of the balloon hell probably stays wherever it is, but with the lightning, I’d say that’s pretty accurate.

So after seeing this, I can’t help but feel like my fears are totally justified:

I had then landed, grabbed the camera, and was inside the house within 2 seconds.”

We get thunder/lightning storms about twice a year in Washington. It’s never that serious or close. When I was in Tennessee though, I saw the true power close thunderstorms have. Even then though, I like going outside to watch it. I do know there’s a slightly increased chance that I’ll get struck, but I just find being around all that power exciting. Maybe I shouldn’t be elected an official of anything.
